Autopilot F.A.Q.

  • Autopilot is capable of driving to the ice surface, completing one of the selected cut patterns, exiting the ice surface, dumping the snow bin, and returning to a designated parking positon.

    Additional features may be available based on your installation.

  • When starting an autopilot cycle, the operator must choose certain options that determine the machines behavior.
    Those include:

    • Cut Pattern

    • Speed (10-100%)

    • Water Dosing (0-100%)

    • Cut Depth

    • Wash Water (On/Off)

  • Autopilot uses multiple redundant systems for safety. If a human must intervene, emergency stops are located in 5 locations on the exterior of the machine, and additional emergency stops can be installed around the arena. All of this falls under very strict guidelines covered under our SUVA certification.

    Ultimately we recommend that you use these safety systems as a secondary means, with operator supervision being first and foremost.

  • Before starting an autopilot cycle, it is the operators duty to ensure the Mammoth has a clear path to and from the ice surface, as well as the surface being free of any obstacles such as nets, skaters, pucks, etc.

  • Yes! How many machines and surfaces they will cover is all determined during installation and programming.

  • Autopilot 3D autonomously controls ice thickness throughout the sheet, seeking perfect ice depths in every cycle.

    After every cycle, a heatmap of your ice thickness is produced in WM Connect, which allows you to know what areas of your ice may need more attention.

    With this heatmap available, the autopilot will then use this data for its next cut cycle to address thin/thick spots accordingly.

  • While the vast majority of arenas can accomodate an autopilot system, this must be determined by our sales and engineering team prior to your purchase.

    Some basic requirements include:

    • Sufficient space to allow the machine to enter and exit the ice.

    • Secure areas to restrict foot traffic within the Autopilot’s operating area.

    • 120V Power available in the machine garage.

    • Hardwire Internet available in the machine garage.

    • Sufficient WIFI coverage throughout the arena, garage, and any driving areas between the two.

  • Autopilot pricing consists of the Mammoth with Autopilot option equipped, and the installation and programming. Pricing varies directly based on the specifics of your installation. Contact us today for a quote.

  • Mammoth lead times average 16 weeks from order placement to delivery. Installation and programming varies based on your scope of work. We recommend scheduling your installation as soon as possible after placing your order, as the schedule fills quickly!
